by ANTON CHEKHOV in a version by SAMUEL ADAMSON
directed by ROB CROSER
Having run away to Paris ten years ago, Lyubov Ranevskaya returns to Russia, to find her childhood home drowning in debt. She and her brother snub the proposed scheme of former serf, Lopakhin, to sell their beloved cherry orchard to developers, and save the estate.
Swinging between comedy and tragedy, Chekhov’s final play, written 13 years before the Revolution, depicts lives lost in nostalgia, and struggling to survive in a new world.
Samuel Adamson was born in South Australia, and acted in several Independent Theatre productions, before going to London, where he is now a prolific, and highly-regarded playwright. His commissioned adaptation of Jack Maggs was presented by State Theatre in 2024. I.T. is thrilled to be presenting his version of Chekhov’s greatest play.
I.T.’s cast includes Lyn Wilson, Stuart Pearce, Benji Riggs, Chris Bleby, Naomi Voortman and David Roach.
